Home Workouts Vs. The Gym Workout

I used to be a hardcore gym guy. If someone had told me what I’m about to tell you, I would have thought they were crazy. There was NO WAY I was going to give up the gym!  I can honestly say, two years later, I don’t think I will ever go back.

I broke down the pros and cons in the video, but let me give it to you on paper. Chime in if you have any other reasons for either side. I’m going to be 100% honest here.

Pros of the gym instead of the home workout:

Get to talk with friends

Get to see members of the opposite sex

Get access to all the cool machines and equipment

Get a chance to “Get Away” for a few minutes


Cons of the gym instead of the home workout:

Time consuming driving, preparing and waiting for equipment

Sweaty equipment, just not from you

Using the lockers (Thieves love when you do this)


Law Of Adaptation – Seeing results to start but then a drastic slowing


Pros of the home gym

Can save time, all you have to do is go into your room to workout

Workout while the kids nap

Save money – No gas needed, no monthly fees

Have your own equipment to sweat on

Gradually build up your equipment as you move on to different programs

See continuous results as long as you choose a scientifically proven program

Get your family involved and share the benefits of health


Cons of the home gym

Takes some time to build up your equipment

Unless you have a partner  it can get boring working out by yourself (This is why challenge groups work so well)

Don’t truly get “away” for a few minutes


There you have it. Maybe it’s for you, and maybe it’s not. I can tell you though it’s honestly worth giving an honest shot. I don’t mean for a day, give it an honest month time and see what you like best.
